Privacy policy
Effective November 4, 2026. Rightt is in early access; this policy will be updated as the product grows, and material changes will be announced in the app.
The short version
Rightt exists for the few seconds before a real hello, so it is built to know as little as possible. You choose every field on your card. Your location is only held while you have sharing turned on, it is blurred before anyone sees it, and it is erased when you hide. Inside your off-the-grid zones, nothing is shared at all. We do not sell your data, and there are no ads.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in, we receive your email address from the sign-in method you choose (Apple, Google, or an email and password). We use it to sign you in and to reach you about your account. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
- Your card. The age you enter, and — only if you choose to add them — a first name, a photo, a relationship status, and your current status (such as open to new friends). Every field except age is optional, and age is self-declared at sign-up, not an ID check.
- Your location, only while you are showing. While sharing is on and you are outside your off-the-grid zones, the app sends your position so people near you can see that someone is around. When you hide, when your session ends, or when your phone goes quiet for a few minutes, that position is erased from our servers — not archived, erased. While you are hidden, the app does not send your location at all.
- Off-the-grid zones. These never leave your phone. The server only ever sees the absence of points, never where your zones are.
- Blocks and reports. If you block or report someone, we keep that record so the block holds and the report can be reviewed.
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist on this site, we keep your email and, if you share it, your city, to let you know when Rightt is ready for you.
- Diagnostics. We collect crash reports and a small set of product events (for example, that a card was viewed). These events never include your precise location or anything that identifies you to other users.
What people nearby can see
Only what is on your card, and only while you are showing: people within a short walk see your card and a soft dot snapped to an area of roughly a city block — never your exact point, never a distance, and never a trail. Seeing goes both ways: someone has to be showing themselves to see who else is.
What we don't do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not show ads.
- We do not track where you go. A hidden phone sends nothing; a showing phone's points are discarded as described above.
- There is no in-app chat, so there are no message logs to keep.
- We do not share your exact location with other users, ever.
Where your data lives
Rightt runs on a small set of service providers that process data on our behalf: Supabase (accounts, database, photo storage), Render (application hosting), Google Maps (the map you see; governed by Google's own terms), and Sentry (crash reporting). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
How long we keep things
Live presence data lasts minutes to hours, as described above. Your card and account persist until you ask us to delete them. Waitlist entries persist until launch or until you unsubscribe. To have your account and everything attached to it erased, contact us and we will do it.
Your choices
- Hide at any time with one tap; showing always ends on its own after a while, too.
- Set off-the-grid zones for the places you never want to appear.
- Leave any optional field off your card, including your name and photo.
- Set your status to Please don't approach me when you want to be left alone.
- Contact us to access or delete your data.
Age
Rightt is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly hold data about anyone under 18; if we learn of an under-18 account, we delete it.
How to reach us
Rightt is early and the team is small. Contact details will be published in the app's App Store listing and in this site's footer as soon as they are live; until then, you can reply to any email Rightt sends you (such as your waitlist confirmation).
